Romanian National Transplant Agency (ANT) is the National Competent Authority according to the Directive 2004/23/EC and Directive 2010/53/EC.

This institution was established in 2004 by the Regulation of the Romanain Government no.79/2004. According to the stipulations of this Regulation, ANT is in charge with the transposition and implementation of the EU Directives in the transplant field and also with the cooperation between the Romanian transplant system, other Competent Authorities and European institutions.

Following the establishment, ANT created every year the National Transplant Program (which includes the whole transplant activity) and obtained an increase of 30% yearly of the number of transplant procedures.

ANT is in charge with the transplant of slid organs (heart, liver, kidneys), tissues and cells transplantation (cornea, skin, bones, tendons, hematopoietic stem cells and reproductive cells).
